As Phycologists, our main goal is to investigate the algae and cyanobacteria under different aspects, including how they interact with and respond to the environment.

Our research is focused on taxonomy, phylogeny, ecology, physiology, and bioprospection of algae and mainly the cyanobacteria. To help in these investigations, we do researches both in the field and lab, where we keep our culture collection, with more than a hundred isolated strains, mainly from the cyanobacterial group.
